Liverpool made yet another huge step towards winning the Premier League title with a 2-0 win against AFC Bournemouth.
Mohamed Salah’s brace was enough to wrap up the three points as Michael Owen defended the referee’s decision to award Liverpool a controversial penalty, a discussion that has split the footballing world down the middle.
Although Steven Nicol blasted Trent Alexander-Arnold for his performance for Liverpool, the Reds will be pleased with how they managed to pick up a win on the road against one of the in-form teams in the Premier League in Bournemouth.
With two domestic cup games coming up next for Liverpool, their lead at the top of the Premier League is as commanding as it has been in some time this season, and Tim Howard has shared what he’s noticed about the Reds compared to Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City at their absolute peak.

Speaking on NBC Sports, the former Everton goalkeeper noted how Liverpool under Arne Slot have the ability to turn up for any game and wipe the floor with their opponents regardless of form, a quality that made Guardiola’s City unstoppable in recent years.
With Bernardo Silva saying Liverpool have surpassed City this season with the Portuguese international ruling out the Manchester side’s prospects of winning the title, the Reds have shown they could be the new dominate force in English football, with Howard impressed with what he’s seen.
Howard said: “There’s just such incredible balance, this is a team that aren’t built the same way as City but we’ve seen City go through seasons where we just know they’re going to turn up and put on a performance.
“And this Liverpool team under Slot between now and the end of the season, you just know they’re going to give these sort of performances.”

Liverpool are flying in the Premier League this season under Slot and look like a safe bet to win the title in the Dutch manager’s first year in charge with the Anfield side, a feat that will make the former Feyenoord man a legend already on Merseyside.
And Howard’s comments are not the first time the Reds have been compared to their Manchester rivals, with Daniel Sturridge praising Liverpool for overtaking City this season and making the Premier League look like a walk in the park for the majority of the season.
Indeed, Liverpool are strong favourites to win an unprecedented quadruple this season, and Slot sticking to his tactics and his system could be all that’s needed to create history with the Premier League giants this year.
