Liverpool captain Virgil van Dijk is said to have used a conversation with Nasser Al-Khelaifi and Luis Campos to apologise for comments he made about Paris Saint-Germain last week.
There has been intense speculation about what the defender discussed with PSG chiefs in the Anfield tunnel after the Reds were dumped out of the Champions League yesterday.
Van Dijk is out of contract at the end of the season and is free to discuss a pre-contract agreement with foreign clubs.
Some fans wondered whether he was talking about a potential move to France with PSG president Al-Khelaifi and sporting director Campos.
The Dutchman is reported to share an excellent relationship with Al-Khelaifi and it was the duo who were initially speaking, with Campos joining later.
Van Dijk also reportedly told Al-Khelaifi and Campos that PSG are the best team Liverpool have faced in the past three seasons.
Maybe we ran out of luck because the margins were so small.
"We played the perfect game, except for scoring a goal.
It was similar to Paris last week, when they played the perfect game and didn't score.
