An ex-Premier League footballer's abandoned luxury home has been transformed into a "dream house".
Steve Leonard, who is originally from Anfield, has spent the last year and a half renovating the property with his wife, Tina, after buying the house at auction for £570,000.
The house is nearly 100 years old and I hate things getting damaged.
We've totally renovated it from the roof to the walls and floors."
Steve, who moved to Hale 21 years ago, described how he walked past the house everyday with Tina, 48, and knew it would one day become theirs.
He said: "We walked past this house everyday on our early walk and, it sounds corny, but the amount of times we said, 'one day we'll get it'."
Steve said he is "determined" to make the house "a million times better than it was".
Describing some of the work that has been done, he said: "I took a lot of walls down inside, reconfigured the front of the house.
