Arne Slot has not experienced a proper transfer window since arriving at Anfield last summer with Federico Chiesa being the only Liverpool signing added to the Dutch coach’s squad.

In hindsight, this has worked out, as it has allowed the former Feyenoord boss to fully assess his squad, and Slot has now revealed that he knows exactly what positions the Reds need to address.

Slot is fully aware of what he has to do heading into the 2025/26 campaign in order to prevent Liverpool from going backwards and has admitted that the club have a good idea of what they want this summer.

Speaking to the press on Thursday, Slot revealed that every position is being looked at, however, there are specific areas they want to improve.

I’m not going to tell you which positions we prefer, but it is clear that we’ve assessed the squad, we’ve assessed what we think where we can improve, and that’s where we try to go for in the summer.”

Jamie Carragher wants Liverpool to sign a left-sided defender, while Slot may want a new number six after the Reds missed out on signing Real Sociedad’s Martin Zubimendi last summer.

Should any of the trio leave Anfield this summer that would have a major impact on how Liverpool approach the transfer window, however, behind the scenes, Richard Hughes and others will know how negotiations are going and will be prepared for the outcomes.

Speaking on talkSPORT, Emile Heskey seemed concerned about the future of Salah in particular, as the former striker wonders how the Reds will replace him.

“I’ll go back to Mo Salah, obviously, his contract is running out Where are we going to replace him if we have to replace him?” Heskey asked.

20 plus goals, plus 10 assists so that is going ot be a difficult point when it comes around.”

Salah has been in immense form this season for the Merseyside club and if Slot’s men win the Premier League title, they will have the Egyptian superstar to thank.

Liverpool have held talks over Ademola Lookman, who would be an underwhelming replacement should Salah leave; however, fans of the Reds may only accept someone such as Newcastle’s Alexander Isak arriving at Anfield, which would allow Luis Diaz to move onto the right.
