Liverpool’s loan players will be looking to step things up in the second half of the season as they aim to impress those back at Anfield.

A handful of Reds loanees have had good campaigns away from their parent club and will be hoping that can lead to a breakthrough in 2025/26.

Liverpool staff have been impressed with Owen Beck, for example, and the left-back could be in-line for a bigger role at Anfield next year.

Ben Doak, Lewis Koumas and Luca Stephenson have also had productive times at their various clubs.

One who has struggled a little has been Stefan Bajcetic.

Having endured a difficult first half of the campaign at RB Salzburg, Bajcetic has been hoping for better after joining Canaries club Las Palmas.

Bajcetic earned good reviews on his debut for Las Palmas at the beginning of the week, but after making his first start for the club on Saturday evening, the 20-year-old was taken off with an injury concern.

Injuries are probably the only reason Bajcetic is not already a fixture within the Liverpool squad by now.

Had he been able to build on his incredible form after coming into the team in 2022, then things could have been so different for the youngster.

As a result, seeing Bajcetic taken off after 78 minutes against Villarreal on Saturday will rightly send concern through the Liverpool fanbase.

The Spain U21 international appeared to be indicating a calf problem after going down off the ball.

However, according to Spanish journalist Diego Otero on X, there is ‘no concern’ about what happened.

“There is no concern about Stefan Bajcetic’s condition,” Otero reports.

“It seems that he suffered a calf pain due to the wear and tear of the match and the period of inactivity he had.”

Although this sounds like good news for Bajcetic, it is best to exercise a degree of caution before being too optimistic.

There clearly was an issue for the midfielder and Las Palmas will have to be careful to make sure nothing is made worse in the coming weeks.

In the meantime, though, it was heartening to see Bajcetic break into the starting XI against what is a good team in Villarreal.

He also appeared to have a good game.

Bajcetic completed 29 out of 39 passes, completed both of his attempted dribbles and created one chance for his team.

Winning seven out of 12 duels is not a bad tally on a first ever start in La Liga, too.

The hope will be that this does indeed prove to be nothing and Bajcetic can build on a good start to life for La Palmas.
