Liverpool are set for a massive summer of spending at the end of this season having made just two signings last year.

The Reds are expected to go into the off-season as Premier League champions with Arne Slot’s side currently 12 points ahead of Arsenal with nine games to go, where the title could potentially be won in the next five fixtures.

With Liverpool expected to strengthen five positions in the summer, there’s a real chance that the Anfield side could shatter previous spending records if FSG are willing to give Slot the keys to the kingdom to rebuild his squad.

And Slot has now been told by a former Feyenoord manager about one player the Dutchman could sign from his former side in Rotterdam.

Speaking to 1908, Rob Jacobs said he would not be surprised if Liverpool were to make an offer to sign Igor Paixao, who played under Slot at Feyenoord and who this season has exploded into life with the Eredivisie side.

Liverpool scouts have already watched Paixao this season with the 24-year-old left-sided winger a potential option for Slot if Luis Diaz was to leave the Reds, with the Colombian international attracting some big interest leading into the summer.

And former Feyenoord manager Jacobs has backed Paixao to succeed at Liverpool, with the 81-year-old saying: “I’ll go for Paixao [over Gakpo], I really think he will make Liverpool stronger.

Arne Slot must also enjoy his development.

“Gakpo is of course also a fantastic player and is doing well at Liverpool, but I think Paixao is better.

It wouldn’t surprise me if Liverpool were to report to Feyenoord.

They don’t make a fuss about that in England.”

Paixao’s profile has exploded exponentially this season with Feyenoord, with the Brazilian attacker attracting interest for all the right reasons after a sensational year with the Dutch giants even without Slot at the wheel.

And based off Paixao’s stats this season, it’s no wonder why Jacobs believes the winger could cut the grade at Liverpool, with the 24-year-old enjoying the campaign of his life at Feyenoord ahead of a potential blockbuster move in the summer.

With Liverpool in the market for a left-sided attacker, Paixao could be the perfect signing for the Reds if an agreement can be reached with Feyenoord, with Slot likely to be keen on reuniting with the Brazilian at Anfield.
