Liverpool considered making an offer for Khvicha Kvaratskhelia once it became clear that the Georgian winger was up for sale at Napoli.
However, with PSG acting quickly to put themselves into pole position, Liverpool never made the decisive move.
Next, rumours have started to circle that the Reds could look to sign young Greek striker Stefanos Tzimas.
Although supporters may be disappointed, we think we know a good reason why they should not be.

Although there appears to be plenty to like about Tzimas – and Liverpool do need a new central striker – the links were a little perplexing.
The Nurnberg forward is only 19-years-old.
He could hardly be brought in as a readymade replacement for Darwin Nunez, for example.

Besides, Liverpool already have their own young striker who is showing signs that he could also have a big career at the top level of the game: Jayden Danns.
Danns underlined his potential once again with a pure centre-forward’s goal against Accrington Stanley on Saturday.
There is no need to block his pathway.

While RTK understands it to be true that Liverpool are considering loan options for Danns for the rest of the season, he looks very likely to be ready for a more permanent place in the senior Liverpool squad next term.
As a result, bringing in another player of a similar profile and age simply would not make any kind of sense.
Danns has a future at Anfield and although Tzimas has more first-team football under his belt, who’s to say he’s an upgrade on what Liverpool already have?
Had he not picked up a frustrating injury at the start of the season, Danns would be further along in his development by now.
The 18-year-old would likely have been sent out on-loan and could have shown his clear quality in a first-team environment.

Nevertheless, having to stay at Liverpool has meant that Arne Slot has been able to get a good luck at Danns, and the Dutch coach clearly likes what he’s seen.
“He will always give he has,” the Liverpool head coach said of Danns after his goal on Saturday.
