Liverpool’s squad is set for a mass overhaul this summer, with work already happening behind the scenes.

Trent Alexander-Arnold is closing in on a move to Real Madrid whilst Liverpool have begun work to sign AFC Bournemouth defender Milos Kerkez, with every area of Arne Slot’s squad set to see big changes in the upcoming off-season.

With Liverpool also interested in signing Jorrel Hato, there is a real chance that the Anfield side could have two to three new starters for the opening day of the 2025/26 season, with more players likely to join Alexander-Arnold out of the exit door.

And a surprising name could now be joining that list heading into the summer transfer window.

According to journalist David Lynch, Harvey Elliott could be sold by Liverpool if an appealing enough bid comes in for the England youth international, who this season has struggled to make much of an impact under Slot.

Elliott has been rumoured with an exit from Liverpool leading into the summer transfer window, with the £40m-rated midfielder a player who could bring in some significant funds if sold to the right bidder, which could now be possible.

Lynch said: “It’s been clear with his place in the squad that he hasn’t played a lot of football that Liverpool would be open to selling.

I don’t think it comes as a massive surprise, it’s a shame given his huge potential, he’s young, he’s got a lot of experience already, and a he loves playing for Liverpool.

“It’s maddening that Liverpool can’t find a spot for him, so it will be interesting to see if he gets sold or if decdides to stay and to fight for his place, he’s certainly got a decision to make.”

It’s easy to forget that Elliott is still just 21-years-old, with the midfielder breaking into the Liverpool starting XI as a teenager before becoming one of the most exciting youngsters in the Premier League.

Yet with Liverpool now becoming open to the idea of selling Elliott, the Reds could be about to make a big mistake in the summer, even if the former Fulham wonderkid ends up fetching a good amount of money for other signings.

Elliott is a talent that could become one of the best midfielders in the world with the right amount of game time, which is why Liverpool can’t afford to throw away the youngster for a short-term fix elsewhere in the squad.
