Liverpool enjoyed their evening against Bayer Leverkusen on Tuesday as they came away with a 4-0 win.
Having won three from three in the Champions League and on home turf at Anfield, the Reds were always favourites to see off Xabi Alonso’s team.
But given that Leverkusen have only lost two games in 2024, and the quality they possess within their squad, many had predicted a tough evening for Liverpool.
Although it did not turn out that way, Liverpool scouts will have still been impressed by what they saw from the opposition at Anfield.
The Reds have been linked with more than half of Leverkusen’s starting XI from Tuesday.
Jonathan Tah, Edmond Tapsoba, Jeremie Frimpong, Piero Hincapie, Florian Wirtz and Exequiel Palacios have all been reported to be on Liverpool’s radar at some point over the last 12 months.

There will have been plenty of excitement amongst the Liverpool fan base at seeing some of these players in the flesh.
Wirtz in particular is a hugely promising player who would no doubt be a super addition to the Reds’ forward line.

However, given the ongoing battle between Andy Robertson and Kostas Tsimikas for the left-back spot, we feel that bolstering the left side of Liverpool’s defence is more of a priority.
Liverpool reportedly have three names high up on their list in terms of a new additions, but we think Leverkusen’s Hincapie should now be seriously considered, too.

Hincapie was heavily linked with Liverpool throughout much of last season.
It was even claimed that Hincapie was desperate to join Liverpool as far back as summer 2023.
Finally faced with the Reds on Tuesday, the Ecuadorian made sure he left a lasting impression.
On the left of a back three, Hincapie kept Mohamed Salah in check for large portions of the game, looking strong in the tackle and impressively robust defensively.
Given Hincapie’s stature – he is around six feet tall – he does not necessarily look like a natural left-back.
But because Liverpool may also need a new centre-back during the next window or two, we still think the 22-year-old fits the bill.
Against the Reds Hincapie won two out of two tackles, made three blocks, four clearances and made nine recoveries.
That is far from being cheap but given that Wirtz could cost £90m and there are various question marks over the other Leverkusen players, we think it’s obvious that Hincapie is the one Liverpool should now pursue from the German champions.
