Liverpool has been told that all is not lost in its quest to keep Trent Alexander-Arnold, who seems destined to join Real Madrid.
The right-back's current deal at Anfield is due to expire at the end of this season, and he has been the subject of speculation linking him with Madrid virtually since this season started.
Madrid is believed to have been monitoring the player's situation on Merseyside over the last couple of years, and he is expected to sign a long-term contract worth around $280,000 per week in the Spanish capital, while also pocketing a hefty signing-on bonus.
Alexander-Arnold has been associated with Liverpool since 2004, and his departure would no doubt be a colossal one, but former Red Ryan Babel thinks he could yet be convinced to stay on Merseyside.

"I’ve seen crazy things in football, so everything is possible.
"At the same time, I think, and I understand from a Liverpool fan perspective, that they are disappointed and would love to see Trent extend longer with the club.
And if his heart desires to try and be successful, outside of Liverpool, we should wish him well."
Ryan Babel played for Liverpool between 2007 and 2011
Despite his emotion-filled celebration after his winning goal against Leicester last weekend, it is still firmly anticipated that he will be a Madrid player next season.
Alexander-Arnold scored the only goal of the game at the King Power Stadium on his return from a near six-week injury lay-off, slamming home with a crisp left-footed strike.
Transfer guru David Ornstein issued an update on Alexander-Arnold's transfer situation earlier this week
A fan asked Ornstein: "Are Liverpool still trying to keep Trent or do they see it as a lost cause?" Ornstein responded: "As has been widely reported, he is expected to join Real Madrid as a free agent."
