Jamie Carragher and Roy Keane agree that Liverpool will want to get the Premier League title wrapped up as early as possible - and potentially today if it can.
The Reds head into their game at Leicester knowing they could have the chance to be crowned champions.
Having missed out on celebrating with their supporters when they last won the title in 2020, Carragher believes the Reds will want to get the job done as quickly as possible this time around - even if it means winning it away from Anfield.
“I think just seeing some supporters today and speaking to them on the way down knowing this could be the day.
You go back a few years, obviously Liverpool missed out on winning the title with the supporters in the stadium,” Carragher told Sky Sports.
“I think there is that little buzz of excitement with that, the few thousand who could be here today could be the first people to see Liverpool win the title in the stadium since 1990.
.
Is it going to be against Tottenham, could it be against Arsenal actually?
“In some ways, you’d want it to be today or next Sunday, not Arsenal dropping points in midweek against Crystal Palace.”
Former Manchester United captain Keane agrees, feeling that Liverpool will not want the race to be dragged out any longer than it needs to be.
“I think there will certainly be a buzz in Liverpool’s dressing room if it comes through that the result’s gone their way in the Arsenal game and they can win it today, because otherwise you’d just be chatting again for the next few weeks going ‘when can they do it?’” Keane said.
“I think they’d want to get it done as soon as possible
I know if you want to be picky, you’d want to do it at home in front of your own supporters, but it’s two or three home games for Liverpool when they can enjoy it.
“I think if I was in that Liverpool dressing room and you think you can get it done today, then go for it.”
