Jamie Carragher believes Liverpool are handling this season's Premier League title race with Arsenal more 'calmly' than a previous showdown with Manchester City.

Arne Slot has taken the helm at Anfield, and his Reds have been nearly impeccable this campaign, maintaining a six-point lead at the summit of the league despite a surprising FA Cup exit at the hands of Plymouth Argyle.

It almost feels like the title run-in or title talk hasn't really started in Liverpool.

But, Carragher believes that Arsenal's confidence - having not secured a league title in over two decades - could wane with any additional setbacks, reports the Liverpool Echo(

"Because of Liverpool's lead, if they drop points in a game before Liverpool do, they'll lose belief they can win the league," he elaborated.

"If it [the lead] goes to sort of nine, 10 points, and they're on the edge every game...

"I've said that before, but with Liverpool, it just seems so calm, and it wasn't like that before, and I don't know if that's Slot, I don't know if it's the amount of football if it's Arsenal rather than Manchester City - but it doesn't feel like Liverpool have got that sort of nervousness, this: 'We have to win this game otherwise it feels like the world's gonna end'."

Despite trailing a dominant City by 14 points in mid-January 2022, Klopp's Liverpool mounted an impressive challenge, throwing themselves into contention.

On the final day, the leaders were down 2-0 at home to Aston Villa, and just when it seemed a victory against Wolves might clinch the title for Liverpool, a Rodri strike and an Ilkay Gundogan double turned things around at the Etihad.

Carragher believes that the atmosphere surrounding this most recent fight, compared to the more intense and potentially more competitive tussle with City three years ago, is almost non-existent - further suggesting that Arsenal will need to be near flawless to exert a similar level of pressure.
