Former Liverpool star Jamie Carragher has clarified his statement after eliciting a bold reaction from Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola over comments on Erling Haaland.
Haaland remains a doubt for City's game with Liverpool on Sunday and Guardiola was asked about the comments in his pre-match press conference.
The City boss said: "Did he say that Haaland didn't want to play the game?
He joked: "That illness may have continued a few days to Virgil van Dijk-itis!
"I said in this fixture at Anfield about the battle between Haaland and Van Dijk
Carragher added: "City can beat Liverpool
It has had a difficult time but there are still moments in games when it comes together, or falls apart.
"City beat Newcastle last week but we know there will be a moment in the game where City isn't there mentally or physically, and that is when Liverpool has to capitalize."
