Liverpool might be closing in on winning the Premier League title, but Jamie Carragher insists the Reds need at least six new signings this summer.
Having beaten Everton in Wednesday night’s Merseyside derby, they need a maximum of 13 more points from their remaining fixtures to be crowned champions.

But despite Liverpool’s dominance in the Premier League this season, a number of players in Arne Slot’s ranks face question marks about their futures.

Salah, Van Dijk and Alexander-Arnold are all out of contract and while the former pair have publicly admitted their preference to remain at Anfield, the latter is considering an offer to join Real Madrid on a Bosman transfer.
Beyond the trio, Darwin Nunez, Luis Diaz, Diogo Jota, Federico Chiesa, Wataru Endo, Harvey Elliott, Jarell Quansah and Caoimhin Kelleher have all been linked with departures, while the likes of Joe Gomez and Kostas Tsimikas also face uncertain futures.
Meanwhile, Ibrahima Konate and Andy Robertson are about to enter the final 12 months of their own contracts, with their own futures also unclear as a result.
Granted, it would be a major surprise if all 15 players were granted Liverpool exits this summer.
The Reds are on the cusp of Premier League glory, after all.
But regardless of what happens with Liverpool’s out of contract trio, Carragher thinks the Reds need six new signings this summer, spread across defence, midfield and attack, as he shared his excitement at Slot being able to forge his own squad in the months ahead.
“No football team can ever be considered the finished article,” he wrote in his Telegraph column.
“We could all list the greatest club sides of all time, from Premier League to Champions League winners, and in each instance you will discover that within weeks of their success they were proactive in the transfer market.
“The pursuit of perfection is unrelenting and it is human nature to analyse the flaws that need correcting as much as the strengths which propelled a side towards the biggest honours.
That is exactly how it feels for me watching Liverpool edge closer to the Premier League title.
“I am as excited about what they are going to become over the coming years as the potential celebrations in May.
We are watching a very good Liverpool team on the brink of greatness.
“My suspicion is that during the course of his reign, Arne Slot and the recruitment team above him will have constructed a better squad, regardless of whether they match or eclipse this year’s likely success.
“When a team win the league, you anticipate one or two big signings to keep the juggernaut moving.
