Jamie Carragher has suggested that if Mohamed Salah extends his contract with Liverpool, he could cement his status as the greatest player in Premier League history.

Throughout the season, Carragher has been outspoken about Salah's contract situation, expressing disappointment about 'selfish' comments he made earlier in the season.



On Sunday, Salah's goal and assist in Liverpool's 2-0 win over City took his total contributions to 51 for the season.

Carragher has weighed in on the debate about where Salah ranks among Premier League greats, saying, "I think when you look at the names on there some are goalscorers and some are great players.

Thierry Henry's almost a great player, and I think people would say when we talk about the Premier League we'd put Thierry Henry on the top.

"I think, for me, Mo Salah is definitely second.

Thierry's a colleague of ours so at the moment he's still on top, but we are looking at someone who is pushing really closely."

Carragher hasn't shied away from discussing Salah's ongoing contract saga, even questioning Liverpool's handling of the situation and Salah's commitment last Tuesday.
