Jamie Carragher has thrown another name into the mix for potential replacements for Dominik Szoboszlai at Liverpool, having already made his feelings about the Reds midfielder clear.
Although Szoboszlai has been an integral part of Arne Slot’s side this season, and a big factor in Liverpool being on course for some silverware, Carragher has admitted to not being the Hungarian’s biggest fan.
The former defender has called for Szoboszlai to add more goals to his game, having been left unsatisfied with his return since making the move to Anfield in 2023.
Now, he’s thrown another name into the mix, having been left impressed by Nottingham Forest’s Morgan Gibbs-White.
The England international has been linked with Liverpool already this season, and Carragher believes he’s just as good - if not better - than the Reds’ current first-choice option at No.10.
“I’ve been watching Morgan Gibbs-White now for probably 18 months in the Premier League and I’m convinced he can play for one of the top teams,” Carragher told The Overlap US: It’s Called Soccer podcast.
“I look at him in that number 10 position, he’s got goals, he’s got energy, he’s quick, he gets on the ball and I think that lad has got a lot going for him and obviously he’s going to get a move.
.
It will be difficult for him to play because of the players that you have in that position but I think, look I say he’s going to play for one of the top teams but Forest are that at the minute, I’m going to get slaughtered here aren’t I, but what I mean is that I could see him, I think he’s as good as Szoboszlai, if not better, in that number 10 position
I think he’s brilliant.”
