Former Liverpool defender Jamie Carragher has named four positions Liverpool need players in.
The Reds have been inactive in the transfer market, bringing in zero new players despite links to several names.
However, their lack of transfer activity has not stopped Liverpool from being competitive this season.
The Reds remain at the top of the Premier League table and are also in the next round of the UEFA Champions League.
Still, it is clear that Liverpool will struggle next season if they don’t strengthen in the summer.
The Reds have only signed two players in the last two windows.
Federico Chiesa, who joined from Juventus last summer and Giorgi Mamardashvili, who was signed from Valencia but remained on loan at the Spanish La Liga side, are Liverpool’s only new first-team additions so far under Arne Slot.
Former Liverpool captain turned Sky Sports pundit Jamie Carragher has named four areas Liverpool must strengthen in the summer.
Jamie Carragher suggestion to Liverpool
Speaking during the Sky Sports transfer deadline day segment, Carragher noted that the current Liverpool squad needs improvement in four key areas.
“There’s definitely areas of Liverpool’s team that can be really improved,” he told Sky Sports.
“But I think that is something for the summer.
“Centre forward is a position they could really improve in.
A left-sided defender, too.
“If those players were available right now, I’m not sure they would do the attacking ones because they have enough numbers there.
“But I think they need to side a left-back – or a left-sided centre-back or left-back – but I am sure they will come in the summer.
“But for me, I have that much trust over what these guys tend to do over the last eight to ten years.
Even if I think they should buy, I look at the operation at Liverpool and go: they know more than me.
“Every fan gets excited about players coming in – I would love Liverpool to sign another defender – but I trust these people know what they’re doing because their track record says they do.”
Carragher had previously pointed out that Liverpool have need of a left back in the summer, name-checking Bournemouth man Milos Kerkez as a suitable signing for the Reds.
