Jamie Carragher has had some more things to say about Mohamed Salah and his contract situation at Anfield

As the 32-year-old’s Liverpool contract edges closer to expiration in June 2025, the Egyptian superstar finds himself at a career crossroads.

The situation has evolved into a high-stakes negotiation between Liverpool and Salah’s camp, with Saudi Arabian giants Al-Hilal waiting in the wings with a lucrative offer.

With 27 goals and 19 assists across all competitions, he has been instrumental in Liverpool’s dominance this season, as they sit seven points clear at the top of the Premier League and remain strong contenders in the Champions League.

Despite the allure of Saudi riches, recent signs point toward Salah staying at Anfield.

Such gestures have fueled speculation that he is inclined to extend his stay.

What did Jamie Carragher say?

Speaking on the most recent episode of The Overlap’s Fan Debate, Paul Scholes and Jamie Carragher discussed, among other topics, the ongoing contract saga at Anfield.

Scholes started by saying that the likes of Mohamed Salah and Virgil van Dijk should be dealt with as anomalies as that’s essentially what they are:

“Once you get over 30 I think every club looks at that, that’s the way they do it.”

“But, I think it’s a little bit different now.

I understand what they’ve done for the club but they’re still so good right now that I don’t think you can be offering them a year?

Other clubs aren’t going to give them the money or give them long contracts, certainly in Europe.”

He then strongly claimed that Mohamed Salah has been offered a deal as negotiations continue in the background:

“We talk about Saudi, I just can’t see Salah doing that.

I think Salah can go until he’s 37, 38.

He can play.”

“Do not believe he hasn’t been offered a contract
