Jamie Carragher has revealed how he was not convinced with Virgil van Dijk ’s capabilities the first time he saw the now Liverpool captain play.
That came over a decade ago when Van Dijk was a Celtic player and was regularly linked with a move to the Premier League.
Speaking on the latest episode of Stick to Football, Carragher reflected on his first impressions of Van Dijk, which coincided with Hull's unsuccessful scouting mission.
And I think Steve Bruce might have been manager of Hull or someone near them.
“There were a few people watching Van Dijk, and I watched him in the game.

Bruce revealed in 2019 that he could have signed Van Dijk had circumstances panned out differently, which would have seen him team up with Andy Robertson in east Yorkshire.
“I could have taken him [Van Dijk] to Hull,” said the now Blackpool boss
