Liverpool defender Jarell Quansah admits it is a "surreal" feeling after earning a call-up to Thomas Tuchel's first squad as England boss.
Quansah is one of several surprise names in the 26-man party for the World Cup qualifiers at Wembley against Albania next Friday and Latvia three days later.
Quansah broke into the Liverpool first team at the start of last season and made 33 appearances, after which he was included in England's provisional squad for the European Championships but failed to make the final cut under former national team boss Gareth Southgate.
The 22-year-old has had a more difficult time this term and has been restricted to just 10 starts, only two of which have come in the Premier League.

However, Quansah was drafted into his first full England squad under interim boss Lee Carsley in November after Everton's Jarrad Branthwaite pulled out but failed to emerge off the bench for the UEFA Nations League wins against Greece and the Republic of Ireland.
And with Trent Alexander-Arnold joining Conor Bradley and Joe Gomez on the sidelines with an ankle injury suffered in the Champions League defeat to Paris Saint-Germain at Anfield on Tuesday, Quansah is now favourite to start at right-back in Sunday's League Cup final against Newcastle United at Wembley.

Of his England call, Quansah said: "Yeah, it's a surreal feeling.
But this one is definitely the first one where I feel part of the squad, it's a great feeling.
"Have I spoken to the new manager?
It's good to be part of the plans."
Alexander-Arnold's injury means Curtis Jones is the only other Liverpool player named in Tuchel's first squad.
