Liverpool striker Jayden Danns has been adjusting to life as a Sunderland player despite not yet making an appearance for the club.
The teenager, who joined the Black Cats on loan on transfer deadline day, has been dealing with a back injury that has delayed his debut.
Sunderland’s medical team flagged the issue during his medical, leading to an immediate return to Liverpool for treatment.
Since then, he has been undergoing rehabilitation at Melwood under Liverpool’s watchful eye.
Despite the setback, Danns has shown commitment to his temporary club, making regular visits to Wearside to integrate with his new teammates and coaching staff.
His presence at Elland Road for Sunderland’s recent Championship clash with Leeds United highlighted his eagerness to be involved.
He has also engaged in one-on-one discussions with head coach Regis Le Bris, further strengthening his bond with the team.
But when will he return to action?
Jayden Danns ‘likely comeback date’ revealed
Le Bris has provided insight into Danns’ situation, stressing the importance of keeping the youngster involved.
He acknowledged the uncertainty surrounding his return but suggested that progress is being made.
“We are trying to build a connection with Jayden and the team,” said Le Bris.
“Of course, it is not easy while he is injured, and we don’t know how long (before he returns), so we try to keep the connection and then we will see, maybe in one month he will be available?
We have to see.”
The Sunderland boss confirmed he has been in direct contact with Danns and emphasized the ongoing nature of his recovery.
“I’ve spoken with him, absolutely.”
“He is having his treatment at Liverpool, but we are doing what we can to build that connection for when he is ready.”
For Liverpool, it remains a waiting game.
The club’s medical team will have the final say on when Danns can resume full training with Sunderland.
Until then, the young striker will continue his rehabilitation, with both clubs hoping he can make his mark before the season’s end.
