Liverpool are not in talks over the signing of Holland right-back Jeremie Frimpong from Bayer Leverkusen.
The Reds were reported to have opened initial negotiations with representatives of Frimpong, who has become much sought-after having impressed for the Bundesliga side since signing from Celtic in 2021.
However, the ECHO understands such claims are premature as Liverpool continue to formulate their approach for the forthcoming summer transfer window.
Speculation over the Reds' interest in a number of right-sided defenders has been heightened in recent days given the ongoing failure to agree a new contract with Trent Alexander-Arnold, who at present will leave at the end of the season on a free transfer.

The England international is continuing to consider whether to accept an offer from Real Madrid, with the European Super League advocates having failed in an attempt to sign the player for a cut-price fee during the January transfer window.
While publicly having not given hope of persuading Alexander-Arnold to sign a new deal, Liverpool are pressing ahead with contingency plans should the 26-year-old depart.
Frimpong is among a number of players being monitored by the Reds' recruitment team - which is being spearheaded by sporting director Richard Hughes - and is a compatriot of Liverpool head coach Arne Slot.
The 24-year-old defender, who can also play at wing-back, is expected to be in demand this summer with Chelsea, Manchester City and Manchester United among many clubs to have been linked with an interest.
As with Alexander-Arnold, both Mohamed Salah and Virgil van Dijk are out of contract at the end season.
Liverpool remain in negotiations with the pair over a new deal.

It is likely to be a busy summer in the transfer market for the Reds, with speculation over the exit of several long-time squad members and a desire to refresh key parts of the team including left-back, where Bournemouth's Milos Kerkez is a player of strong interest.
Liverpool will already be bolstered in the summer by the arrival of goalkeeper Giorgi Mamardashvili from Valencia after a £29million deal was agreed last year.
