Ajax's technical director Alex Kroes has claimed that Jordan Henderson has never truly felt valued since he joined the club.
During the last week of January’s transfer window, rumours started circulating that the ex-Liverpool captain was eyeing a switch to AS Monaco.
It was suggested that Henderson was discussing with Ajax the potential to cut short his contract that is due to run until 2026.
Nonetheless, a switch didn't come to fruition, and Henderson lashed out at the "lies" surrounding his future after his team clinched a 2-1 victory over Feyenoord in the Eredivisie.
"Everyone knows the club's financial situation.
In a recent interview, Kroes shed light on Henderson's situation at the Johan Cruyff Arena, revealing that the midfielder has struggled to cope in the Netherlands due to the price Ajax paid to secure his services from Al-Ettifaq
"What has been going on with Jordan is that he has not felt wanted at Ajax from minute one," Kroes told De Telegraaf.
"That is not because of me, the trainer, the management or the people around him
That is a great shame, because his value to Ajax is more than enormous
