When starting, Henderson was the Ajax captain and it felt as though he was growing into an important player as they fought at the top of the Eredivisie and in the Europa League.
However, back in January, speculation intensified that Henderson was prepared to quit Ajax and join Monaco on a deal until 2026.
It's a move that is looking like the right decision now, as Ajax close in on the Eredivisie title.
Ajax fans fumed when rumours emerged that Henderson could be jumping ship to Monaco, but he has since appeared to win them over.
Henderson was lauded on social media after captaining Ajax to a 2-0 win over PSV on Sunday and was greeted by supporters on the team bus following the game.

One fan on X, formerly known as Twitter, said: "Henderson.
So important again today." A fourth said: "Henderson shows once again that he is a key player for this Ajax.
Alex Kroes will have to think very carefully this summer about whether he wants to let him go..."
Many others showed their appreciation for Henderson and it does feel like his Ajax career has turned a corner after those transfer rumours.
