Liverpool on Sunday delivered on what many had expected them to do for much of the season - win the Premier League.
Arne Slot, in his debut season in charge, claimed a record-equalling 20th league title with the Reds.
And he did it in stunning fashion, as his side beat Tottenham 5-1 at Anfield in the same ruthless manner his side have demonstrated for much of the 2024/25 season.
Incredibly, he achieved the feat while making just one outfield signing last summer in Federico Chiesa, who barely had a part to play in their hugely successful campaign.
That is not only an indication of the Dutchman’s tactical acumen and character to slot in so seamlessly, but also of what an incredible job his predecessor Jurgen Klopp did to build such a talented squad from nothing.
Klopp himself fell narrowly short of winning his second Premier League title in his final season, despite leading the table for the first few months of 2024.
However, as he continued to transform Liverpool, Klopp's rival - former Chelsea and Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho - was only impressed by his impact after a single historic moment.

In May 2019, Liverpool had it all to do at Anfield, needing to overturn a 3-0 defeat they sustained against Barcelona in their Champions League semi-final first-leg a week prior.

That is certainly high praise coming from Mourinho, who himself won three Premier League titles and two Champions League trophies with Inter Milan and Porto.
But, more importantly, his unique philosophy brought the club’s very first Premier League title in the Covid-19 hit 2019/20 season.

And so, while Slot conquered the league in dominant fashion in his debut season in England, the Reds boss knew he had to acknowledge the man with a bigger role than any in their present day success.
