The January transfer window is now upon us, but many Liverpool fans are not anticipating a busy winter month.

As has become a strategy in recent years, it appears the club will continue along this opportunistic trend of only signing players that represent 100% value for the sum invested.

Arne Slot’s impressive start to the season may afford him the luxury of being selective about any potential January recruits.

Speaking on the winter window back in early December, the Dutchman said:

“I said many times at the beginning of the season, I’m so, so happy with the squad we have.”

“That’s not to say that if there will be a chance in the market [we won’t sign anyone].

“This club has always shown that they are going for it.”

The Reds have been linked to plenty of players ahead of this month, with left-back emerging as a position that could nee reinforcements.

Bournemouth’s Milos Kerkez and Fulham’s Antonee Robinson have been identified as potential options to provide competition – although an update has now been provided on these suggestions.

Liverpool not interested in Antonee Robinson

Robinson has been amongst the best fullbacks in the Premier League this season, notching two assists in Fulham’s 2-2 draw at Anfield in mid-December.

The USA international has been linked as a potential option to help Andy Robertson at left-back, but according to ESPN, there is no concrete interest from the Reds.

“The Antonee Robinson thing has been there for a while now.

He’s had a great season, arguably the best left-back in the league,” ESPN’s Mark Ogden reported.

“So, Robinson’s name has been attached to Liverpool quite a bit.

But I’ve been told on more than one occasion that Liverpool have minimal interest in Robinson.”

“It’s not because they don’t think he’s a good player,” Ogden explains

“It’s more the fact that he’s 27.

Liverpool don’t sign players for the long-term who are 27 years old.”

“The name that has been put to me is Milos Kerkez at Bournemouth,” he says.

“He would fit the profile much better than Antonee Robinson.”

Conversely, Fabrizio Romano has reported that Milos Kerkez is likewise not the type of profile the Reds are looking for.

Kerkez does represent an energetic and pacey fullback adept in both attack and defence, sounding like the ideal profile.

But it seems that the Liverpool hierarchy perhaps wants a wide centre-back or a left-sided defender who can play as a left-back or in a traditional back two.
