Liverpool took another step towards the Premier League title with a win over Newcastle United on Wednesday.

The Reds had the chance to build on what was an excellent weekend for them, with 11 points the gap down to second-placed Arsenal.

With Arsenal looking at a tough trip to Nottingham Forest and kicking off 45 minutes before Liverpool, supporters at Anfield knew they’d learn the result of their rivals before their own game ended.

Forest have been a match for anyone at the City Ground this season, leaving Reds fans expectant of a good result.

And that’s exactly what they got, with a draw very much enough to appease the crowds inside Anfield.

As the 0-0 result filtered through to to supporters, journalist Ian Doyle heard Liverpool fans giving their own unique reaction.

And according to Doyle, that’s exactly what they did.

Reporting on X, the journalist relayed what he’d heard coming from the stands at Anfield.

“We shall not be moved” sing the LFC fans on hearing Arsenal have failed to win again,” he said.

Rewind the clock just two weeks and Liverpool had an incredibly daunting run ahead of them.

Visits to Goodison Park, Villa Park and the Etihad Stadium lay in wait, as well as home games against Wolves and Newcastle.

In good form themselves, Arsenal must have sensed a chance to strike.

But the Gunners have quickly seen things fade from their grasp.

Their is a chance they could come back.

It would take a mammoth collapse from the Reds, though.

In this kind of form, that simply doesn’t look like happening.
