The 26-year-old has won it all at Liverpool, but he's in the final few months of his contract and will be free to leave his boyhood club this summer, with no sign of new terms being agreed.

Alexander-Arnold gave little away regarding his contract in an interview with Sky Sports, stating: "I have been at the club 20 years now and I have signed four or five contract extensions and none of those have been played out in public.



This one won't be either."

Talk of the full-back agreeing terms with Los Blancos has caused a stir among the Reds' dedicated fan-base, with a certain warning from Jurgen Klopp resurfacing in recent days.

Although the German has not addressed Alexander-Arnold's future directly, Klopp did famously warn Philippe Coutinho about a move away from Anfield, which should serve as a warning to the England international.

Coutinho would ultimately ignore Klopp's advice with Liverpool cashing in on a record £142million sale, but the move to the Camp Nou turned out to be an unsuccessful one, and the Brazilian was back playing in the Premier League four years later.

Alexander-Arnold will be remembered fondly for everything he's given in a Reds' shirt, but there's no doubt that he'd go down as a club legend if he were to extend his stay at Liverpool.

Klopp's words of wisdom regarding Coutinho - that he would "be just another player" - should serve as a warning to Alexander-Arnold that the grass isn't always greener on the other side.
