Last summer marked the end of Jurgen Klopp’s historic reign as manager of Liverpool.
The German stepped down at the end of last season, making way for Arne Slot.
Klopp was appointed during a period that saw Liverpool struggling to compete for silverware.
Under his tutelage, Liverpool climbed back to the top of the football pyramid, winning every trophy available for an English team during his time at the club.
Setting the team up nicely for the future, Jurgen Klopp passed the club into the hands of Slot, who has built on the foundations Klopp set.
Following his departure, Klopp announced that he was unlikely to return to management.
He stuck to his wishes and instead opted for a completely new role.
Jurgen Klopp was appointed as Global Head of Soccer at Red Bull on the 1st January 2025.
A move that was unexpected, and caused a high level of controversy back in his homeland.
The former Liverpool manager also managed Borussia Dortmund and Mainz, two clubs built on the philosophy of the working class.
The two clubs were outraged by Klopp’s decision to join Red Bull, describing it as a move for money and in turn, Klopp showed a lack of respect for the tradition of his two previous clubs.
Now Jurgen Klopp has made his first big decision since joining his new role.
His first major decision has come in the form of a managerial sacking.
Marco Rose has been sacked by RB Leipzig as the German outfit sit sixth in the league table.
Earlier in the season, Bild reported that Klopp had been a supporter of Rose, backing the German manager to be given one more year in charge, no matter where RB Leipzig finished this season.
But the hierarchy lost patience with Rose, after his side fell to a 1-0 defeat to Borussia Monchengladbach on their first game back after the international break.
With no immediate sign of improvement, it was decided that Rose’s time was up, and Klopp made the call to dismiss the manager.
Red Bull will now start their search for a new manager as they look to pull RB Leipzig back up into the Champions League places.
