Jurgen Klopp has emerged a surprise contender to replace Carlo Ancelotti at Real Madrid if reports are to be believed.

The former Liverpool manager left the club at the end of last season after a nine-year tenure at Anfield.

He returned to football, though not in a coaching role earlier this year, after being named as the global head of Red Bull's football operations.

However, Real Madrid could soon be looking to appoint a new manager amid rumours Ancelotti is one of the favourites to take over the Brazil national team.

Brazil dismissed Dorival Junior after the 4-1 defeat to Argentina in the World Cup qualifier this month.

Al-Hilal's manager Jorge Jesus is also among the options.

However, Ancelotti is considered to be the 'president's dream', claims The Athletic.

The report also states the Brazilian Football Federation have been in touch with Ancelotti about becoming their coach, having approached him in 2022 and 2023.

However, their hopes of appointing the 65-year-old was put to an end when Ancelotti extended his contract until 2026.

But according to TEAMtalk, Madrid could consider a change this summer.

Klopp is mentioned as a 'likely successor' should Ancelotti depart the Bernabeu after four years in charge.

"I will never decide my departure date from this club, in my life," Ancelotti said when addressing the rumours.

"That day will come, but I don’t know when it might be, it’s not me who decides.

I have an advantage and I have an objective.

"We will have Florentino Pérez here for another four years and he, who knows me very well, knows that the objective is to be here for another four years and that we can say goodbye together, with all the love in the world."
