Kevin De Bruyne once confessed to being a Liverpool fan in his younger years.
The Belgian star is now set to leave Manchester City after an illustrious 10-year stint that saw him bag 16 trophies.
His trophy haul since moving to Pep Guardiola's side from Wolfsburg in 2015 includes six Premier League titles, one Champions League, two FA Cups, five Carabao Cups and three Community Shields.
However, De Bruyne's football journey could have taken a different path had he joined the club he followed as a child.

He has never shied away from expressing his admiration for Liverpool, as he revealed to Match of the Day magazine in 2019 that his favourite player was ex-Reds striker Michael Owen.
"I was a Liverpool fan," De Bruyne said.
The City star reaffirmed his early affection for the Reds, stating: "When I was young?
Liverpool."
When pushed to answer whether he would sign for Liverpool in the future, he quickly dismissed any notion of this ever happening.
While the Kop faithful may have a slight hankering for what could have been, had De Bruyne donned a red shirt instead of a sky blue one, it appears there was only ever one club for the star once he made the move to Eastlands.

The 33-year-old took to social media to announce his departure from City, writing: "Dear Manchester, Seeing this, you probably realise where this is heading.
As the midfielder leaves an icon in sky blue, with 413 appearances, 106 goals and 118 assists to his name, City boss Guardiola has admitted that a huge part of the club's identity will leave with De Bruyne.

Speaking ahead of Sunday's Manchester derby, Guardiola expressed mixed emotions at the pre-match press conference: "A sad day but a happy day for the fact that I had the pleasure personally to live this time with him," he said.
"What he gave us, all of us, with his humanity and his influence in our success in the last decade.
