England defender Kyle Walker has been discussing Curtis Jones and his impact in the England national team.
Jones was handed his first cap by Lee Carsley in November, and he was the star of the show as England beat Greece 3-0 on the night, registering a goal.
He made his second appearance for the Three Lions a few days later.
And while he was not on the scoresheet in the game against Northern Ireland, Jones also showed remarkable composure alongside Jude Bellingham in England’s midfield.
Walker, who is a senior member of the England setup, having made 93 senior caps, has spoken about Jones and his perception of him in the two games he played for the Three Lions.
What Kyle Walker said about Jones England performance
Speaking to BBC 5 Live Sport, Walker called Jones a breath of fresh air, highlighting his confidence and ability to control the game.
“Curtis Jones in both of the games was fantastic, Walker said.
“I think he played really well.
It’s the first time that I’ve played with him.
Obviously, I’ve played against him numerous times for Liverpool, but to actually play with him, he’s got some ability.
“I feel that he controlled the game.
He played the game at his tempo.
He got on the ball.
“Normally, when certain players or players in the past have come to the England team and got their debut, they’ve not really expressed themselves as he did.
“I think that just shows the confidence that he’s taking on from this season, given the game time that he’s got at Liverpool and under the new manager, and he’s brought into the national team?
I thought it was a breath of fresh air.”
