Liverpool travel to face Paris Saint-Germain in a heavyweight Champions League Round of 16 first-leg encounter on Wednesday night, as two of Europe’s most in-form teams prepare to battle at the Parc des Princes.
With both sides dominating their respective domestic leagues, this showdown has been billed as a potential final being played in the early knockout stages.
The eagerly anticipated clash kicks off at 8 pm GMT on Wednesday, March 5, 2025, at the Parc des Princes in Paris, with coverage beginning at 7 pm on TNT Sports 1 in the UK.
This first leg comes before the return fixture at Anfield next week, with both teams eyeing a place in the Champions League quarter-finals.
Liverpool qualified directly for the Round of 16 after topping the new-look league phase with an impressive seven wins and just one defeat from their eight matches.
But after receiving Luis Enrique’s side, it feels like Liverpool’s efforts in the previous round counted for nought.
PSG, meanwhile, had to navigate a more difficult path, finishing 15th in the league phase before emphatically overcoming French rivals Brest 10-0 on aggregate in a one-sided play-off tie that included a 7-0 second-leg victory.
French outlet L’Equipe suggest that Enrique is unlikely to deploy Désiré Doué in the three-man midfield configuration that has occasionally been seen this season for the Liverpool encounter.
Additionally, despite Warren Zaire-Emery’s welcome return from his injury layoff, tomorrow night’s high-profile fixture probably comes too soon for him to feature in the starting eleven, as he hasn’t yet been trusted to begin a match since his comeback.

Speaking ahead of the tie, PSG boss Luis Enrique said:
“I already know Liverpool very well.”
“Whether it’s Liverpool or the top teams in general, we always have an idea.
But after analyzing their performances, I don’t really see a better team,” the Spaniard explained.
“There’s no doubt that since the start of the season, they’ve been the most in-form team in Europe, not only in terms of play and performance but also results.”
“It could very well be a Champions League final, but unfortunately, that won’t be the case.
We will do everything we can to give ourselves a real chance and be better than Liverpool?
That’s our goal.”
