Arne Slot will offer a new update on Diogo Jota during his pre-match press conference on Tuesday evening but would be surprised to have the forward available against RB Leipzig.

The Liverpool head coach will speak to the media at Red Bull Arena from 6:30pm BST ahead of the team's third Champions League league phase match.

Jota, 27, sustained an injury early into the weekend's match against Chelsea at Anfield after being brought down by Tosin Adarabioyo on the halfway line.

The opposition defender received a yellow card for the foul, and Jota continued playing.

However, he was eventually substituted on the half-hour mark, being replaced by Darwin Nunez.

The change came after Mohamed Salah's penalty opened the scoring.

After the match, Slot acknowledged: "Diogo had to be substituted, and I am not sure what it is, but I'd be surprised if he were there on Wednesday." The Reds head coach also revealed that they had some fitness concerns coming into the match.

Conor Bradley was one of those and was not in the matchday squad despite playing every minute of Northern Ireland's two Nations League matches during the international break.

Trent Alexander-Arnold did not train initially after returning from international duty, with Slot considering him a bit of a doubt despite ultimately starting against Chelsea.

Alexis Mac Allister was sick before the match but made the bench and came on as a late substitute to replace Curtis Jones.

They could conceivably miss the trip to Germany with none of those three playing the full 90 minutes - as Joe Gomez came on for Alexander-Arnold when Jones made way.

Federico Chiesa is another doubt after not being involved at Anfield and missing the last two matches before the international break.
