Alexis Mac Allister insists he is not interested in moving to Real Madrid amid reports the Spanish giants may look to sign him in the summer.
The Argentine midfielder has played a key role for Liverpool this season, appearing in all but one of their top-flight matches so far as they look set to secure a second Premier League title.
His performances have reportedly caught the eye of Real Madrid, who may look to refresh their squad this summer as manager Carlo Ancelotti seems set to depart the club.
Los Blancos have supposedly earmarked Mac Allister as a potential replacement for Luka Modric, who is out of contract at the end of the season.
Mac Allister is not entertaining the possibility of a move, though, saying he has no interest in leaving Liverpool, where he is under contract through 2028.
Speaking to TYC Sports, he said: “I have a lot of respect for the club and I don't think it's necessary to talk about other institutions.
“I read the rumours and the news reaches me, but the important thing is the present.
“As much as the club loves me, if I play badly this weekend, they will lose interest.”
While his short-term future is committed to Liverpool, Mac Allister has said he would like to play in his native Argentina again before he retires.
He made his professional debut at Argentinos Juniors in 2016 before signing for Brighton, later spending a season on loan at Boca Juniors.
