Liverpool CEO Billy Hogan has revealed whether there are future plans for further Anfield expansion after the Anfield Road Stand got redeveloped last season.

Liverpool’s Anfield Road expansion, a significant project started in 2021, was completed during the 2023/24 season, increasing the stadium’s capacity to 61,276.

This expansion, which added 7,000 new seats, now places Anfield among the top four largest stadiums in the Premier League.

Of the 16,000 seats in the new Anfield Road Stand, 5,200 are general admission, and 1,800 are designated for hospitality?

The project encountered delays in 2023 when the original contractor, Buckingham Group, went into administration.

This caused construction setbacks, but a new contractor, Rayner Rowen Construction, was brought in to complete the work.

Despite the challenges, Liverpool managed to open the upper tier of the stand in December 2023 for a match against Manchester United, and the full stand became operational by February 2024?

The expansion not only boosts capacity but also enhances fan experience with upgraded concourse areas and a new fan park.

Additional hospitality facilities, including bars and lounges, are part of the expansion, although some of these features are still being finalized.

Additionally, during the summer, the club installed state of the art Wi-Fi at Anfield which improved the fan experience by enabling mobile ticketing, cashless payments, and other digital services.

What did Liverpool CEO Billy Hogan say about further Anfield expansion?

Billy Hogan was the Liverpool executive that was the public reference point for the aforementioned development at Anfield last season.

Speaking to FC Business in September, he spoke about some of the summer concerts that happened recently well as the likes of Dua Lipa already penciled in to perform next year:

“We think it is amazing that we can bring this caliber of artist to the city,” he said.

“The more events we can host, the better for us anecdotally, but our priority is obviously to play football matches, so the calendar is extremely tight.”

“Maybe we can put on events in early July in the future.

We will have conversations about that, but the concerts have been an enormous success, all made possible by the progress we made.”

When asked if there are any discussion around increasing Anfield’s capacity further or any major overhauls, Hogan replied:

“Really at this point, there are no plans to continue expanding at Anfield,” he says.

“We will look at, as continue to, life-cycle improvements and always looking at how we can improve the fan and supporter experience, whether that be inside or outside the ground?

But there are no major plans for further expansion at this point.”

Hogan has previously spoken about aims to improve transport systems in and around Anfield
