Liverpool FC has announced that Director of Communications Susan Black will be stepping down at the end of the season after 14 years of service in senior roles across the club, marking another significant change in the club’s leadership structure.
Black’s departure comes during a period of substantial leadership changes at Liverpool FC.
Las year, the club confirmed the return of Michael Edwards as CEO of Football at Fenway Sports Group, with expanded authority and broader responsibilities than in his previous role as sporting director.
This appointment was followed by Richard Hughes joining as the new sporting director after leaving his position at Bournemouth.
Since joining Liverpool in 2011, Black has been a key member of the club’s senior executive team.
Beyond her primary responsibilities as Director of Communications, she has served as an Executive Director and Board Member of Liverpool FC Women and as a Board Member of the LFC Foundation, the club’s official charity.

Under her leadership, Liverpool FC Women experienced significant development.
In 2020, she was appointed to the club’s women’s team board alongside CEO Billy Hogan and Mike Gordon, president of Fenway Sports Group.
During her tenure, Liverpool FC Women returned to the Women’s Super League and secured a 10-year lease to play their home games at St Helens Stadium
As part of a structured transition, Craig Evans, currently Liverpool FC’s Vice President of Communications, will be promoted to Senior Vice President of Communications effective June 1, 2025.
In this role, Evans will assume Black’s communications responsibilities and lead the communications function across the club.
Liverpool CEO Billy Hogan acknowledged Black’s contributions, stating:
“On behalf of the entire club, I would like to express my gratitude for Susan’s years of dedication and leadership across our communications, LFC Women and LFC Foundation functions?
She has played a pivotal role in all three areas alongside her role as one of the long-standing members of our executive team”
Upon announcing her departure, Black reflected:
“It really has been a great privilege to work for this incredible football club over the last 14 years.”
“We are blessed at LFC to have so many incredibly talented, gifted and professional individuals who work together to ensure our club goes from strength to strength.”
