As we now quickly edge towards the end of the 2024/25 campaign, there is no doubt that new Liverpool manager Arne Slot has enjoyed a phenomenal first season in charge at Anfield.
Having opened the season incredibly brightly, many did wonder if we would fall away as the months ticked by but despite the 'odd wobble' there cannot be anyone who is not delighted with where we find ourselves as we head towards mid-April.
With 31 games played in the campaign we remain eleven points clear of nearest chasers Arsenal and short of a first time in history monumental collapse top spot and the title is rightly ours again, and although we were defeated there was Wembley for the League Cup Final and the last 16 of the Champions League.
It is almost time for the players to go on the beach, and that means can kick back and maybe enjoy the ever popular types of casino games now on offer from the likes of winorio as they ponder what next season may bring for us.
Not bad for a maiden season, particularly when you factor in the off pitch issues and media frenzy that we have had to juggle when it comes to the contract situations applying to Mohamed Salah, Virgil van Dijk and Trent Alexander-Arnold.
With the summer fast approaching, things have recently turned sour on the TAA front with a section of fans (arguably just keyboard idiots) hitting the headlines but it looks like our former youth Academy graduate is definitely off to Real Madrid this summer, and ultimately good luck to him he has never let us down and I have no doubts the vast majority of true fans will wish him the best.
News on the future of Mohamed Salah is more mixed and reports continue to broadly tread the middle ground with some claiming progress on talks of a short extension, and others adamant that our Egyptian wizard will be off for pastures new.
News on skipper and centre half Van Dijk has, in the main, been far more quiet although we have had a few 'exclusives' saying a deal was almost on the cusp of being done, which have then been followed almost immediately by the player himself saying he had 'no idea' what his future would hold given where negotiations were.
However, in the last week the 33 year old has now confirmed that 'progress' has been made and whilst nothing had yet been guaranteed, or put in writing, there was a sense that he felt more confident that there would be a solution that did see him continue to stay at the club - fans will certainly be pleased that the dial seems to have subtly turned here as he restated his love for the club and the supporters.
Obviously, what the future holds is yet unknown but if we can tie VVD down to a new deal before the campaign comes to a close then it makes Slot's and the backroom boys' work far easier over the summer as we look to dabble in the transfer market with a view to successfully defending the title in 2025/26.
With plenty of speculation already doing the rounds on the rumour mill about who Slot is potentially interested in adding to the group, not having to directly replace someone of VVD's qualities and influence would be a major bonus to us in other areas of the park.
