Liverpool have been left stunned as opposed to deflated when weighing Sunday's defeat to Fulham against their quest to win the Premier League title.

Their lead above Arsenal at the top is still commanding, though nor has this latest result done anything to boost their chances of success.

In fact, the weekend's results have actually seen Liverpool's lead cut from 12 to 11 points.

It began with hope as Arsenal produced a stalemate with Everton at Goodison Park, but the Reds failed to add to make good of the favour from their rivals by losing 3-2 at Craven Cottage.

Arne Slot now has the task of stamping out the mistakes that resulted in Fulham scoring three within the space of 14 first-half minutes.

Any more errors in the seven Premier League fixtures that remain and that would seriously threaten their title ambitions, even if the team remain the overwhelming favourites to go on and claim the trophy.

As things stand, Liverpool would require another 11 points themselves to surpass Arsenal's maximum possible total of 83 and subsequently become champions.

Opta Analyst has crunched the numbers throughout the season now after this latest Reds setback has given an updated prediction of how the final standings will look on Sunday, May 25.

The latest prediction believes that Liverpool will still win the league title, finishing the 2024/25 season with 88 (87.97) points.

This has actually dipped after Sunday's negative result, reducing from a predicted 90 (89.63) points.

That said, it is significantly better than Arsenal, who are now tipped to finish second on 76 (76.35) points after 38 matches.

Before drawing with Everton they were predicted 78 (77.56) points.

Ultimately, this would mean Slot's men regain their 12-point advantage at an undefined stage of the final seven matches this campaign.

Defeat to Fulham has not changed Opta's stance on probabilities to win the Premier League.

They say Liverpool are still 99.06 percent likely to win the Premier League, compared to just 0.94% for Arsenal.

While the league title is the priority for the Reds, they have been given a 100 percent likelihood of securing Champions League football for next season.

Without European football in the remainder of the campaign they now have a full week to prepare for West Ham's visit to Anfield on Sunday, April 13.
