Liverpool have repeatedly identified 23-year-old Angelo Stiller as a potential target to strengthen their midfield.

Currently playing as a defensive midfielder for Bundesliga club VfB Stuttgart, Stiller has impressed with his technical ability, confidence on the ball, and strong passing game.

The German international has drawn comparisons to Toni Kroos due to his composed style of play and ability to dictate the tempo of a match.

His intelligence and adaptability have been praised by fellow professionals, with former teammate, Joshua Kimmich, stating that Stiller adjusts well to “intense environments”.

While primarily a playmaker, he is also effective in breaking up oppositional play, showcasing his defensive awareness and most importantly, his suitability for Arne Slot’s system.

Stiller’s current contract includes a release clause that activates in 2026, valued at €36 million however, Sporting Director Richard Hughes has the option to pursue an early transfer this summer if the club is willing to make a significant offer.

The Reds are closely monitoring Stiller and could move to secure his signature before other clubs enter the race.

Will Liverpool be in the market for a new left-back?

Should the club pull this move off, Stiller – hailed as a ‘complete midfielder’ – would fit nicely into a 4-2-3-1 system, operating as a deep-lying midfielder, partnering a more dynamic option such as Dominik Szoboszlai or Alexis Mac Allister.

His composure under pressure would allow Liverpool to play a possession-based game, whilst providing defensive stability.

Alternatively, in the more traditional 4-3-3 system, Stiller could take on the No.6 role, offering a more technically refined choice, ahead of Wataru Endo.

His ability to break lines with pin-point passing would allow the Reds to maintain fluidity in midfield, allowing the boys to progress the ball into attacking areas with greater precision.

The German’s technical prowess and strategic acumen exude his promising future and with his technical strengths and growing experience, at both club and international levels, he could be a very valuable addition to our team.

If Liverpool decide to move for him this summer, he could provide much-needed depth and quality in a crucial area of the pitch.
