Liverpool are sweating on the fitness of Cody Gakpo ahead of their Premier League clash with Wolves today.

The Dutch forward picked up a knock during the late stages of Wednesday night’s chaotic Merseyside derby draw at Everton and has been being assessed this week.

He was not spotted at Liverpool training on Friday.

“Cody is a bit of a doubt as well, so let's wait [to see] how he is,” said Reds boss Arne Slot on Friday.

“I had to take him off [against Everton] because of an injury, because he got a knock, so let's see how he is.”

Curtis Jones is suspended following his red card after the final whistle at Goodison Park that came following his clash with Abdoulaye Doucoure.

Slot himself is set to be in the dugout at Anfield despite his own post-match sending off on Wednesday, with any potential ban for him not imposed in time for the match.

Trent Alexander-Arnold made his return off of the bench against Everton and is in contention to start on what be his 250th appearance for Liverpool, though Joe Gomez and Tyler Morton are still injured.

“We saw Trent, of course, being able to play [against Everton],” said Slot.

"It was the intention to play around half an hour, I think he played somewhere around half an hour, so he will be training with us again.”

If Gakpo is missing, Diogo Jota and Darwin Nunez are vying for his place in attack as leaders Liverpool bid to re-establish their seven-point lead at the top of the Premier League after Arsenal won at Leicester on Saturday.
