Liverpool have been admiring Nigeria international Victor Osimhen for some time, according to Sky Sports reporter Lyall Thomas.
The Reds are 13 points away from securing this season’s Premier League title but there are already on the ground work going on ahead of next season.
As we have widely reported, Liverpool will be very active in the summer transfer market, with almost every position due one or two additions.
The goalkeeping already has Giorgi Mamardashvili joining this summer, having been signed last summer.
In defence, Marc Guehi, Milos Kerkez, Jarrol Hato and Dean Huijsen are the major names linked with a summer switch to Anfield.
In attack, one or two departures are expected, with the futures of Darwin Nunez, Luis Diaz, and Diogo Jota uncertain at this time.
Liverpool will need a replacement or two should any of the players leave.
Isak fits Liverpool’s profile but his hefty over £120 million price-tag is likely to keep the Reds away.
Other cheaper but equally lethal alternatives are being considered and Sky Sports have now named Fenerbahce hitman Victor Osimhen as one player the club is admiring.
According to the report, the Reds have been tracking the forward, who unwanted by Antonio Conte at Napoli for some time.
However, the report did not state whether Liverpool will make a move for him in the summer.
“Victor Osimhen is another player Liverpool have admired for some time and a similar profile, and he is set to be back on the market again when his season-long loan at Fenerbahce ends and he returns to Napoli,” the Sky report said.
“He was not wanted there by Antonio Conte last summer and there is no reason why that position may have changed.
Osimhen has been keen to move to the Premier League, but his valuation scuppered Chelsea’s attempts to get him last summer, as they pushed to try and find a solution right up until a dramatic deadline day conclusion?
His value was also above £100m then, but that should have come down a little since, with just a year left on his Napoli deal.”
