The Football Association has released its annual report on football agent fees, revealing that Premier League clubs spent a staggering £409 million on agent fees between February 2024 and February 2025.
Despite a relatively quiet transfer window, Liverpool still featured prominently in the financial outlay, though their spending was noticeably more modest compared to several league rivals.
Italian winger Federico Chiesa was the only permanent first-team addition to arrive at Anfield ahead of the 2024/25 campaign.
The 26-year-old joined from Juventus for a surprisingly modest fee of £10 million, with a further £2.5 million in performance-related add-ons.
Chiesa arrived on a four-year deal after impressing for Italy during their Euro 2020 triumph, though his time at Juventus had been complicated by a serious knee injury in January 2022.
Liverpool also completed the signing of Georgian goalkeeper Giorgi Mamardashvili from Valencia in a deal worth up to £29.6 million (€30 million plus €5 million in add-ons).
Interestingly, the FA’s report reveals that Liverpool’s agent payments weren’t limited to player acquisitions.
The club also paid fees to Rafaela Pimenta, the agent of new head coach Arne Slot, as well as to the representative of assistant manager Sipke Hulshoff.
According to the FA’s comprehensive report, Liverpool spent a total of £20,835,652 on agent fees during the 12-month period from February 2, 2024, to February 3, 2025
This figure positions Liverpool in the middle range among Premier League clubs when it comes to agent payments, significantly below the highest spenders.
The report does not include Mohamed Salah’s two-year contract extension that was announced last week due to the timing of the deal falling outside the reporting period.
Liverpool’s £20.8 million expenditure on agent fees appears relatively modest when compared to some of their rivals.
Chelsea once again topped the Premier League’s agent fee chart with an eye-watering £60.4m paid to intermediaries during the same period?
Manchester City followed closely behind, with payments totaling £52.1m

Manchester United completed the top three with agent fees of £33m, while Arsenal slightly outspent Liverpool with payments of £22.8m
The collective £409,137,387 spent by Premier League clubs on agent fees between February 2024 and February 2025 highlights the enormous financial influence that agents continue to wield in the modern football landscape.
