Liverpool’s hopes of tying Mohamed Salah and Virigl van Dijk down to new long-term contracts might have been given a welcome boost after the Merseyside outfit secured a lucrative deal with Adidas.

It marks a return to the brand with three stripes for Liverpool, having been supplied by Adidas between 1985-1996 and 2006-2012.

While fans have rejoiced at the news Liverpool will return to Adidas next season, the club’s hierarchy will be sat with a smile on their face after it emerged the deal could be worth £30million for the Reds.

That’s according to The Echo, who state Adidas will be doubling the amount of money they were previously banking with Nike.

It might have come at the perfect time for Liverpool, given they’re believed to be in talks with both Salah and Van Dijk, as well as fellow out-of-contract star, Trent Alexander-Arnold, over a new contract.

The latter has been heavily linked with a move to Real Madrid, but confidence has been high that a deal can be struck with Salah and Van Dijk - if the finances match up.

The Adidas bigwigs will likely be hoping Liverpool can agree on extensions too, considering they’ll no doubt like Salah or Van Dijk - preferably both - to market next season’s kits, when they’re revealed.

As things stand, neither will be at the club beyond this summer.

In a statement released earlier this week, the Premier League champions-elect said: “From August 1, 2025, LFC will wear the iconic three stripes for the third time in its illustrious history, with adidas supplying a range of match kit, training kit and culture wear to all men’s, women’s and Academy teams and LFC Foundation staff.

“LFC and Adidas partnered together through some of the club’s most successful eras and memorable trophy lifts, first from 1985 to 1996 and again from 2006 to 2012.

The Adidas kit is synonymous with success at LFC and considered among the most universally loved strips with large sections of supporters.”
