Liverpool are facing a defining period in their title race after going two Premier League games without a win for the first time this season - with Arsenal breathing down their necks after a vital 2-1 win over Tottenham.

The Reds have won just three of their last seven matches in all competitions and there are fears Arne Slot's men could be in the middle of a blip for the first time this season, following a difficult 1-1 draw at Nottingham Forest.

Winning at the City Ground was never going to be easy with Nuno Espirito Santo's men currently second in the table after an incredible season so far.

But the result came after the disappointing home draw with Manchester United, and defeat in the Carabao Cup.

Arsenal, meanwhile, were winless in in three games in all competitions before their North London Derby clash but are now back on track and have moved to within four points of their rivals after their victory on Wednesday night.

Here, Mirrror Football has taken a look at the next six fixtures for both Liverpool and Arsenal in what could be a crucial period for the title race.

.

Liverpool

Arne Slot's men have some big, yet very winnable games coming up in the Premier League after getting through a tough run of fixtures that saw them face Manchester United, Tottenham and highly-flying Forest.

First, they'll travel to Brentford, who just came from two goals down against Manchester City to claim a 2-2 draw in the last minute, with Thomas Frank's men a dangerous opposition after scoring 40 goals this season.

After a Champions League tie with Lille they face a quick turnaround before taking on relegation candidates Ipswich on January 25, which must be seen as a must-win against a side hovering above the drop zone(

There might be some tired legs for that one given they play Spurs in the Carabao Cup and Plymouth in the FA Cup in the space of six days before the Merseyside Derby.

Liverpool will then play Wolves at home on February 16, in another game against a side battling for top-flight survival.

A tough trip to Manchester City completes their six game run in the Premier League, with Pep Guardiola looking to kickstart their season after a shocking run before the New Year.

Liverpool next six Premier League fixtures:

Brentford (a) - January 18

Ipswich (h) - January 25

Bournemouth (a) - February 1

Wolves (h) - February 16

Manchester City (a) - February 23

Arsenal

Like Liverpool, the Gunners have had to go through some difficult fixtures after losing to Newcastle and Manchester United in the cup before their North London Derby win, which is never a straight-forward game.

And their next six games are hardly a walk in the park either as they start with a home clash against former Arsenal boss Unai Emery, who is doing an excellent job with Aston Villa.

A trip to Wolves then beckons on January 25 before they host last year's title rivals Manchester City at the Emirates on February 2, just days after travelling to Girona.

Arsenal next six Premier League fixtures:

Aston Villa (h)

Wolves (a)

Manchester City (h)

Leicester City (a)

West Ham (h)

Nottingham Forest (a)
