Liverpool could face competition from a host of Premier League rivals this summer for the signature of Sunderland youngster Chris Rigg.
The midfielder has already made 65 senior appearances for Sunderland and is thought to be a transfer target for several top English sides.
As per the i Paper, Rigg has attracted interest from Everton, West Ham United, Crystal Palace, Tottenham Hotspur, Manchester United, Newcastle United, as well as Liverpool, who is said to have extensively scouted the player.
The outlet adds Sunderland is likely to demand more than £30 million ($40M) for the player’s services but adds Rigg will probably stay at Sunderland if the club gains promotion to the Premier League.
The iPaper adds the teenager’s future “becomes more complicated” if Sunderland does not gain promotion and, while no bids have yet been received, it’s seen as “inevitable” that approaches will emerge this summer.
“The 17-year-old is regarded in recruitment circles as one of the brightest young English prospects in the game and has attracted scouts from across the Premier League,” the report claims.
Rigg represented England’s Under-19s earlier this year and scored in a 1-0 win over Portugal.
