Arne Slot has had his say on Alexander-Arnold after his return(Image: Sky Sports)
Arne Slot claimed it was “ridiculous” to question Trent Alexander-Arnold’s commitment after his late winner pushed Liverpool a step closer to their 20th title.
Fit-again Alexander-Arnold tore his shirt off in delight and celebrated with the Liverpool fans as he provided a “special moment” for Slot’s champions-elect while the result confirmed Leicester ’s relegation.
Liverpool have signed Mo Salah and Virgil van Dijk to new deals but Alexander-Arnold is out of contract this summer and Real Madrid want to sign him on a free transfer.
But Liverpool boss Slot said: “The headline today should be the goal he scored and not about his contract but it would be ridiculous if someone argues his commitment for this club.
“The work rate he puts in.
No one can argue his commitment to this club but the headlines should be his great goal and not his contract.
“I don’t think it only meant a lot for him, for everyone who loves Liverpool.
Players of the quality of Trent, you know these players step up when most needed.”

Alexander-Arnold said: “I've said all season I'm not going to speak on my situation.

Liverpool will be crowned champions if Arsenal lose at home to Crystal Palace on Wednesday but they will be guaranteed the title if they beat Tottenham next Sunday.
Slot insisted he said it would be extra special if they do clinch the title at Anfield because their previous success was in 2020 in front of an empty stadium during Covid times.
Slot added: “The only thing the fans want is us winning the game.
