What the new head coach and the recruitment team do between now and August the 30th could shape the whole season.
Thankfully, it sounds like the FSG transfer machine is slowly starting to whirr into gear this summer.

Liverpool’s lack of transfer activity so far has not been for a lack of potential players for them to sign.
As ever, the rumour mill has been spinning and throwing out plenty of names that could be on their way to Anfield under the right conditions.

One of the biggest to have been linked with the Reds over recent weeks has been Newcastle United winger Anthony Gordon.
Gordon has reportedly had his head turned by interest from Liverpool after they attempted to benefit from Newcastle’s financial issues over the weekend.
However, the Magpies eventually stood firm on the 23-year-old and sold some fringe players to cover the costs needed to be PSR compliant.

There is still a long way to run in this summer’s window, though.
And according to journalist Fabrizio Romano, Gordon is still a ‘possibility’ for Liverpool if the asking price comes down.
“There’s a possibility absolutely,” the journalist told his Playback channel.
But Liverpool when they had direct contact with Newcastle about Anthony Gordon in the past week in that moment it was really difficult with Newcastle on the financial fair play.
“Newcastle asked for big money and for Liverpool that was way too much,” Romano adds.
“If there is a normal price, an acceptable price, Gordon remains a player really appreciated and Gordon was keen on joining Liverpool.
“There is a feeling between Anthony Gordon and Liverpool, that’s very clear.
If Newcastle drop the price that could be a possibility but now they’ve fixed their problems with financial fair play, so that’s it at the moment.”
It has so far not been disclosed how much Newcastle were looking for to sell Gordon to Liverpool.
However, it has been claimed that the Magpies wanted to include Jarell Quansah in any deal.
That seems an impossible figure to reach.
With the former Everton winger having just two years to run on his contract at St James’ Park though, the longer Liverpool wait, the more his asking price will come down.
As long as Gordon does not commit to a new deal, perhaps Liverpool will start to believe that his ‘positive feeling’ can be turned into something tangible in the future.
