Liverpool FC Legends have confirmed the management team for the upcoming LFC Foundation Legends fixture at Anfield.
Over the past couple of years, the LFC Foundation has been collaborating with former Liverpool players and foundations from other clubs to organize exhibition fixtures aimed at raising money.
The latest LFC Legends match is on Saturday, March 22?
The Reds will take on their Chelsea counterparts in a 3pm GMT kick-off game at Anfield.
As previously done, the LFC Foundation will distribute the funds generated from these events to support those in need.
From the eight previous Legends matches held at Anfield, the LFC Foundation has raised over £7.5 million, enabling the foundation to expand its reach and increase the number of people it helps.
Last season alone, the LFC Foundation supported 127,000 people through the funds raised from these charity games.
The Foundation has set an ambitious goal of expanding its reach to 500,000 individuals by 2030 and has thus far doubled its fundraising efforts to meet this target.
The proceeds from these matches specifically fund the LFC Foundation’s health programmes, which provide both physical and mental health support to people of all ages.
The first five players for the upcoming charity game was confirmed in December, and the second batch of players was added last month.
So far, Sander Westerveld, Martin Skertel, Ragnar Klavan, Dirk Kuyt, Mark Gonzalez, Jay Spearing, Jerzy Dudek, Djimi Traore, Fabio Aurelio, Robbie Keane and Djibril Cisse will be in the Reds squad for the game.
Liverpool has now announced the management team for the game, and it features some of the club’s most iconic names.
Management team for Legends charity match confirmed
Liverpool confirmed that Sir Kenny Dalglish will return to the dugout in next month’s LFC Foundation legends charity match at Anfield.
“Sir Kenny will lead the team alongside fellow LFC ambassador Ian Rush and club legends John Aldridge and John Barnes for this year’s game, in association with Forever Reds,” Liverpool said in a statement on the club’s official website.
The club also announced that fans could win a chance to join the management team by participating in a draw.
“You could be in with a chance of winning a once-in-a-lifetime experience of joining the management team in the dugout for the occasion,” they revealed.
“This unique experience will see the lucky winner receive a night’s stay in a premium hotel in Liverpool city centre the night prior to the game, before being collected at 11.30am on matchday and taken to the team hotel for the pre-match team-talk and meal.”
“The winner will then travel to Anfield on the team coach and head through the players’ entrance before walking out of the iconic tunnel and taking their place on the bench for the encounter.”
“Entries for the prize draw are £10 per ticket and there is no limit on the number of entries per person – all funds raised will go towards the work of LFC Foundation.”
