Liverpool FC have announced another batch of players for the upcoming Legends charity match.

The Liverpool FC Legends are set to face Chelsea on Saturday, March 22, in a 3pm GMT kick-off.

Over the past couple of years, the LFC Foundation has been collaborating with former Liverpool players and foundations from other clubs to organize exhibition fixtures aimed at raising money.

These matches have helped the Foundation support over 127,000 people last season alone, with previous events generating significant community impact through health benefits and local economic contributions.

The Foundation has set an ambitious goal of expanding its reach to 500,000 individuals by 2030 and has thus far doubled its fundraising efforts to meet this target.

The proceeds from these matches specifically fund the LFC Foundation’s health programmes, which provide both physical and mental health support to people of all ages.

The most recent Legends match saw Liverpool face Ajax at Anfield in March 2024, drawing over 54,000 spectators.

The event featured memorable appearances from former stars, including Fernando Torres, Dirk Kuyt, and Ryan Babel, who uniquely represented both sides.

This year’s Legends Charity game will come against Chelsea and the management team as well as the first eleven players for the game has been confirmed.

So far, Sander Westerveld, Martin Skertel, Ragnar Klavan, Dirk Kuyt, Mark Gonzalez, Jay Spearing, Jerzy Dudek, Djimi Traore, Fabio Aurelio, Robbie Keane and Djibril Cisse will be in the Reds squad for the game.

Liverpool have now confirmed that another batch of six players have been confirmed for the upcoming game.

Six players added to squad for upcoming Legends charity vs Chelsea

Liverpool confirmed that former goalkeeper David James would be joining the goalkeeping department for the upcoming Legends game.

The Englishman, who made 277 appearances for the Reds, will link up with Sander Westerveld and Jerzy Dudek as options between the sticks.

Defensive duo Bjorn Tore Kvarme and Gregory Vignal also join James, while Mohamed Sissoko has also been added to the midfield ranks for the LFC Legends management team.

Champions League winner with Liverpool, Igor Biscan, has also been confirmed, while Florent Sinama-Pongolle returns for the first time since 2022.

Liverpool also encouraged fans to “keep an eye on LFC Foundation’s social media channels for any final additions in the coming weeks ahead of the game.”
